Spottyed Snuggles# 135 Love

Dog! When we first met on the highway of life,

we came from the two poles of creation….

What can be the meaning of the obscure love for me

that has sprung up in your heart?

My first dog, who taught me so much in the short time we had together.

She came into my life February 1996 and went to the Rainbow Bridge September 2008.

Gracious with all the four legged guests that stayed here,

charmed all the humans that we encountered,

patience with my shortcomings of understanding canine behavior and dynamics.

For all the life lessons I learned being with her, I am and will be forever grateful.

Spottyed Snuggles#134 Heart

“A dog has one aim in life… to bestow his heart.”

~ JR Ackerley

I am most humbled that all three gave their hearts to me in their own special way.

I’m to understand that this month’s Blog Paws theme is about Spoiling Our Pets.

Miss CookiesNCream, The Bandit and La Petite Grande Dame Cherie

were referred to as my Spoiled Spotts.

As you can see by these images, they lived up to that name.

Spottyed Snuggles #133 OneHundredOne

As a Dalmatian lover, I’m excited about the upcoming  (re)release of the

Disney animated classic “101 Dalmatians”!

I fell in love with this breed as a child. I was an avid reader, read all the library books twice, sometimes for a third time, before they were due back. It gotten to the point of my being limited to check out the same number of books to how old I was. I was quite the happy camper to be selecting books from the Young Adult section in the main room rather than from the Children’s room. My siblings did not appreciate my appetite for the written word, as they sometimes didn’t read all the books they checked out within the given time.

In 1995,  Nicholas (my now late partner)  mentioned there was a live 101 Dalmatian movie to be released the following year.  I think he may have noticed how my face lit up when I described how I loved reading Dodie Smith’s book when I was a ‘tweener.  In late February 1996, I was in bed with the flu when he said he had a surprise for me and wanted to see if I was awake for it. I waved at him but really wanted more sleep. He said he’d have to get this surprise out of the car. That’s when I jumped out of bed, ran down the stairs and met Nicholas  coming in the door from the garage holding a puppy! My very first dog!!!  We named her CookiesNCream as her markings resembled Nicholas’s favorite ice cream flavor at that time.  The ‘Miss’ part came later when she decided to be a lady.

I owe so much to this little spotted lady. She inspired me on so many levels.

For all that she has taught me, I am forever grateful.

p.s. I was not compensated for mentioning the upcoming Blu-Ray & Digital HD release of Disney’s animated movie ‘101 Dalmatians’.

Spottyed Snuggles #131 Heaven

“For people with patience,

time with a dog is a little slice of heaven.”

J.J. Brown

One of the many lessons in life I have learned is that

I truly believe that they were in heaven being with me just as much as it felt to me.

Spottyed Snuggles #129 Christmas

“Christmas is not a date on a calendar.

It’s more than a state of mind.

It’s a condition of the heart.”

― Toni Sorenson

I am very grateful to have learned this important life lesson from the Dalmatians.

It was Christmas to them each and every day.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Spottyed Snuggles #128 Oatmeal

“It’s just the most amazing thing to love a dog, isn’t it?

It makes our relationships with people seem as boring as a bowl of oatmeal.”

Spottyed Snuggles #126 Scent

“Questers of the truth, that’s who dogs are;

seekers after the invisible scent of another being’s authentic core.”

― Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson

Miss CookiesNCream

This was taken a couple days after The Bandit was sent OTRB 06/2008.

While she was happy to have me all to herself again,

she truly missed her brofur.

As you can see, she was on an quest to capture his scent.

Spottyed Snuggles #125 Move

“If you want the best seat in the house … move the dog.”

~Unknown

Miss CookiesNCream on the left, snuggled with The Bandit on the loveseat.

How could I ask them to move when they gave me these looks?

They were waiting for me to join them for a Spottyed Snuggle!

“There is honor in being a dog.”

I think Aristotle was right.

It was an honor to have had these wonderful dogs in my life.

Spottyed Snuggles #121 Heart

“A dog doesn’t care if your rich or poor, smart or dumb.

Give him your heart.. and he’ll give you his.”

― Milo Gathema

Miss CookiesNCream and The Bandit, taken March 2008.

They had my heart from the moment they came into my life

and gave me theirs up to the day they took their journey across the

Rainbow Bridge.
